MPlayer is the most complete player of movies and animations that exists for Linux. Provides support for MPEG, VOB, AVI, OGG/OGM, VIVO, ASF, WMA, WMF, QT, MOV, MP4, FLI, RM, NuppeVideo, YUV4MPEG, FILM, RoQ and files PVA, i.e., that you can see all kinds of videos to VCD, SVCD, DVD, 3ivX, DivX 3/4/5 and even WMV.

MPlayer has support for a multitude of both input and output formats, that and its functionality make this program one of the most appropriate when it comes to play both video files as animations.

MPlayer works with X 11, XV, DGA, OpenGL, SVGAlib, fbdev, AAlib, DIrectFB, but you must use CGI, VESA, SDL and some drivers of specific low level graphics cards. Many of these support scaling in hardware and software, so you can enjoy movies in fullscreen with MPlayer.

Another feature of MPlayer is the support for all the subtitle formats (MicroDVD, SubRip, SubViewer, Sami, VPlayer, RT, SSA, AQTitle, JACOsub, and MPsub) which are mainly given in fonts, European, Cyrillic, and Korean.

  • It supports most formats
  • Simple but practical design
  • Compatible with subtitles
  • Skins to change its appearance
  • Equalizer and playlist
  • Some options require advanced knowledge

The option most complete: If you want to play back many multimedia formats, without having to change an application to another, Mplayer is the alternative to choose.

Installing MPLAYER on Suse 9.1: Enter http://packman.links2linux.org/ in the multimedia section are the packages you need to version of mplayer

Installation package for SuSE 9.X: Well, I did know that I did something to make mplayer work on suse, but I do not remember as. As well, after searching for the hd I chord which was the necessary rpm in the paguina suseros packages. Well, this is the address of the package: Http://suserpm.webcindario.com/principal.php?Menu=proy & cod = 70 It's okay if when you install it asks you the w32... (do not be more), select ignore all and install it, if missing some package, search in google: & lt; package_name & gt; rpm, sure you will find it. To run it, or you think a link from the menu start with the command "mplayer" or run it directly.

One of the best: Play all kinds of video and audio files, in my personal experience with this player occurred that with a movie that other players looked bad subtitles; with mplayer, they looked perfect and the quality of the film was superior to other players such as totem

Mplayer GUI: MPlayer has graphical interface only you must download the skins from Http://packman.links2linux.org/ And install them Browser __________

I like to see it with RedHat: For redhat, the rpm version download it from this address:, when I try to install the first package mplayer-common-1.opre4-3... rpm but get me that you have not found this package mplayer = 2:1 opre4.

You could be: More or less works, but remember to install the codec otherwise not func.

Suse10.1 installation?: I'm new to linux and I am using suse 10.1 when installing the rpm tells me missing the libx264.so.54, actually I do not know is that, and I can not install it from there, I visited the p. That is mentioned in the first comments but I do not go out of nada.c What can I do?

Is rose from time to time: It is not stable in ubuntu or kubuntu But least give a stone

Faster than Windows!: This program is amazing, you don't have the hassle of codecs that exist in windows, and over goes "follao". I can watch movies in high resolution on a k6/333, as before for the most you could hope was to see 'slides'.

Very good: If you are looking for a player such as windows media player or real, is not. This is used for viewing video, all kinds of videos (mpg, avi, mov,...). Very good for slow computers.

MPlayer...the audio does not work: Maybe fail in something if someone you to something happened so... porfa help... because it seems to me an excellent sw since it boot me image to a vvelocidad that windows dream... thanks

Someone I could help, and explain to me where find the update of these libraries and how can I install them? Thank you

Download the libraries from here: Hi, probably you ask a set of libraries needed to run the program, and not you the installed you will have. Here you can find what you are asking (remember to remove the spaces): http: / / mirrors. Sctpc.com / dominik / linux / pkgs / mplayer / Come, I hope that, a greeting

I am missing libraries: Hi, I installed the mplayer and it works perfectly, but when I try to put it in graphical (gui) gives me error and tells me to me missing a libraries. The page giving granma from where you can download the libraries does not work, if anyone knows where I can find them you would be grateful that write it here...

When I put DVD's part me image in two...: I guess that it remains to me any library or any codec or be some configuration, help me please, when I put to play a dvd, I part image in two, right invests it, and it looks bad, I ask for help, thank you, write to [email protected] Thank you.

Install on Ubuntu: To install it in ubuntu how easy is using synaptic. You add the archives.ubuntu.com multiverse repositories, you update the package list and that's it! The multiverse repositories are: Deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu dapper main restricted universe multiverse

It does not work on fedora 8: After download all dependencies, finally get install mplayer on linux fedora 8. The icon is created in the folder of audio and video, but to click the movie player icon, turned and violently disappears unless you can not even see what is written. I thought that mplayer could be an alternative to totem that comes installed by default in fedora 8 since totem not working. Any suggestions? I have to indicate that my my laptop is a toshiba satellite and with windows xp, you can perfectly see the videos that cannot be (so far) on linux using mplayer. Thank you for the attention.
